Kanji Kanban Japanese Sign #203-Ocean Day

Use the rikaichan popup dictionary or your favorite reference tool with my transcription below the photo if you need help reading this poster promoting  Ocean Day.

As it’s  a relatively new national holiday that was was initially celebrated on a fixed day in July but now is celebrated on the third Monday of the month,  this poster offers a reminder of when it falls.

The current system makes for a nice three three day weekend as the summer sets in and the temperature and humidity increase after the end of rainy season.  Click on the photo to enlarge it and see the characters more clearly.

The numbers below refer to the kanji I’ve transcribed below the photo, and correspond to their order of appearance in both Heisig’s Remembering the Kanji and Kanji in Context.
